Google Maps is a web mapping service offering satellite imagery, street maps, 360 degree panoramic views, real-time traffic conditions, and route planning for travelling by foot, car, bicycle or public transportation. First launched in February 2005, it has become one of the most comprehensive and popular websites and mobile apps for navigating around the world.

One of the best features that I find myself constantly resorting to is the street view option that allows users to drop themselves into almost any location and look around with a 360 degree view. The images are high quality and you can move around while in the street view mode, such as up and down roads, as well as zooming in on different parts of the image. This means that if you are meant to arrive at a certain location and would like to know exactly what the building or area looks like, you can use street view to virtually ‘go there’ beforehand.

Another great inclusion in Google Maps is the ability to search locations by restaurants, hotels, bars, cafes, banks, gas stations and more. This means that if you are in a new city and need to quickly find somewhere to take out money or fill up your car, you can click on one of the options and all available places will appear highlighted on the map. After selecting the place you would like to get to, Google Maps will give you directions from your current location and will even speak to you like a GPS by using the tracking on your phone.

One issue of using the Google Maps app when out and about is that if you do not have internet connection, you cannot use the software on your phone. This is unlike other services that allow you to download maps of certain locations that can then be accessed offline.

Pros
  • Street view allows you to access 360-degree panoramic images of different locations
  • Search locations by a variety of attractions and services
  • Free app uses GPS on phone to give directions
Cons
  • Software cannot be accessed offline

TravelSites.com is the best travel site list in the world.🏆💯🥇🌟

TravelSites.com is the go to place online to find information on the best websites, smartphone apps, books, YouTube channels and documentaries for travelers. Written with my years of experience trotting the globe, TravelSites.com gives budding young backpackers the chance to discover the top resources available for getting the most out of their trip, be it renting a car, learning the local dialect, finding a photographer or even just knowing what the weather will be like for the week. I have researched the internet to bring you a list of the top items in each category, while every single one has been meticulously reviewed, highlighting unique features, comparison to similar products, and all the pros and cons.

Why did you make TravelSites.com?💖🔥🚀

Well, I found that although there is naturally lots of information online concerning travel-related products and services, they seem to be scattered about, leaving the user to laboriously search for each individual item. If you wanted, for example, to discover an inspiring travel documentary while booking accommodation and flights to Rome, you would have to have at least three different tabs open at once. TravelSites.com puts all the information you need in one place, meaning you will not have to search far and wide to simply find out the best website for reserving a room in a hotel. With more than 40 different categories, travelers can stay on the same website to gather all the information they need, not only saving them time but also saving them money, by reading through the reviews to find the cheapest option.

What can you find on My lists and how did I rank them?🕵️‍♂️🧠🔗

My lists feature more than 40 different travel-related categories containing every resource a backpacker could ever need. Need help planning a trip? Want to keep up to date with the latest travel news? Looking for an inspiring book or blog? Desperate to find a restaurant away from the crowds? I’ve got you covered. My lists have been carefully put together by me and combined by quality, efficiency, value and functionalism to rank the items in descending order, with number one considered the item offering the best of all four factors. The criteria was constant throughout each category, whether it was for a cruise booking website or an Instagram account, in order to bring travelers the resources that would be the most useful for travelers.

How do I contact you, if I have a question?💡📞📧
