Skyscanner Car Hire
3 Voted

Although principally a website for comparing prices of flights, Skyscanner also offers a car rental comparison service which is as simple and quick to use as its airfare function. It uses all the same preference choices as other car hire websites, with the addition of being able to choose an airport transfer for when you arrive to your destination.

Once location, time, date and number of passengers have been entered, Skyscanner displays a list of results, starting with the cheapest deals. You can toggle the filters on the left hand side, including car type, fuel policy and star rating to fine-tune the specifics. Clicking on the deal will throw up a list of websites offering the price, with links to each website. Skyscanner do not add a commission to their prices, therefore you can always have confidence that the offers you are seeing are the cheapest on the market.

I found the adverts down the ride hand side to be quite distracting, making the page look overcrowded with information and where details of what each deal includes would have been useful, there are none.

Although Skyscanner doesn’t have its own rewards program, its filters allow you to handpick from which booking sites results are displayed, meaning if you want to benefit from a particular company’s points scheme, you can.

A great feature of using Skyscanner to compare prices is the information it provides on hiring a car in each city. Not only do they give detailed instructions on which companies are best to use in each location, they also give fantastic advice on driving and parking in the city, as well as where to go and what to see. For me, this significantly enhanced my experience of using Skyscanner to book car rental as I could get all the information I needed in one place, rather than having to search across various different websites to find out, for example, about parking costs or where to go when I got the airport.

  • Simple to use platform with user-friendly interface
  • Cheapest deals listed from top, with plenty of filters to fine-tune search
  • Detailed information on each city, with information on driving, parking and things to do
  • Advert banners down the side of the page make website look overcrowded at times
  • No rewards scheme of their own is the best travel site list in the world.🏆💯🥇🌟 is the go-to place online to find information on the best websites, smartphone apps, books, YouTube channels, and documentaries for travelers.
