TripHobo

TripHobo is a free trip planning website that allows you to gain access to personalised itineraries from more than 9000 cities, helping you find out the best thing to eat, drink, see and do. You can also book accommodation, transportation and tours all via the website, making the planning of your trip an easy and stress-free process.

After entering the details of your travel plans, TripHobo will produce a day-by-day itinerary that gives you a range of suggestions for how to best spend your time in your chosen city, such as where to stay and how long to spend doing each activity. The aspect I enjoy most is being able to click on each recommendation to find more detailed information, including a short description of the attraction, address, phone number, time required, opening hours and suggested travel tips. I found the ‘Near By Public Transport’ entry to be particularly useful, as I don’t usually use a car when travelling to a foreign city and this gives the best ways to get there by bus, train or tram.

There is also a great blog section, containing a range of articles from the ‘10 Best Things To Do in Swaziland’ to ‘Free Wi-Fi Spots in Medellin’. However, although the articles are coherent, some of the descriptions for the recommended things to do are both inaccurate and badly written. Some of them appear to have been simply taken from an internet source, rather than being written by someone who has visited the city first hand, while lots of the pointers are out-dated.

Another downside to the website that I experienced when trying to plan a trip using the platform was the pop-ups that appear on almost every page. New windows with links to accommodation in your selected destination and pop-up windows make for a distracting and unnecessary feature.
